The 2025 (5th) Solid Oxide Cell (SOC) Technology Development and Industry Forum, jointly hosted by DT New Energy and China University of Petroleum (East China), was successfully held in Qingdao, Shandong Province, from April 25 to 26, 2025.

With the theme "Exploring Efficient Energy Technologies, Leading the Future Energy Revolution," the forum focused on cutting-edge technologies such as Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC) and Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells (SOEC). It aimed to promote collaboration across academia, research, and industry, accelerating the commercialization and application of SOC technologies.

Broad Collaboration to Shape the Future

The forum gathered more than 400 representatives from domestic and international universities, research institutes, and companies, covering all segments of the SOC industry chain.
The co-organizers included Foshan Xianhu Laboratory, Tianfu Yongxing Laboratory, the Key Laboratory for Advanced Fuel Cells and Electrolyzers of the Province, and the Fuel Cell Committee of the Jiangsu Renewable Energy Society.
The honorary chairman of the forum was Academician Suping Peng from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor at China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), while Professor Wenchun Jiang, Party Committee Member at China University of Petroleum (East China), served as the forum chairman.

Exciting Special Sessions

Over the two-day agenda, the forum featured a series of distinctive activities:

  • Youth Forum:
         A dynamic session featuring "10-minute talks + 5-minute      discussions," where young SOC researchers presented cutting-edge      innovations in materials and core processes, fostering original innovation      and future industry development.
  • Executive Closed-Door Meeting:
         Top executives from SOC enterprises and leading academic experts engaged      in deep discussions on industry development strategies, market trends,      challenges, and solutions, driving healthy industrial growth.
  • Technical Workshop:
         International experts led a specialized training class on SOFC/SOEC stack      design and testing, covering electrochemical testing, equivalent circuit      modeling, and accelerated aging tests, enhancing professional capabilities      for engineering personnel.
  • On-Site Visits:
         Delegates toured Qingdao Proton Power Technology Co., Ltd., gaining      first-hand insights into SOC technology applications and developments.
  • Supply-Demand Matchmaking and Investment Collection:
         By bringing together industry resources and precisely matching needs, the      event promoted supply chain collaboration and investment opportunities.
  • Publication of SOC Key Technical Challenges:
         Key technological bottlenecks in the SOC field were collected and      published to guide future R&D efforts and encourage breakthroughs.
  • Presentation of the "Lifetime Achievement Award for the      SOC Industry":
         This award honored Professor Meng Guangyao for his outstanding      contributions to the advancement of SOC technologies and applications.

Focusing on the Frontier, Advancing Technology

During the forum, distinguished experts delivered insightful speeches on the current status and future prospects of SOC technologies at home and abroad. Topics included critical technologies for power generation and electrolysis applications, key breakthroughs, and industrial development paths under the "Dual Carbon" goals.
The in-depth exchanges fostered new ideas, strengthened collaboration, and provided a strong boost to the commercialization of SOC technologies.

The successful conclusion of this forum not only showcased the latest progress in SOC/SOEC technologies but also further promoted global exchanges and industrial cooperation in the hydrogen energy and fuel cell sectors.
